Twitter gets on the money

Twitter has rolled out the second phase of it's monetisation: Promoted Trending Topics. And Disney / Pixar are the first ones to buy a promoted topic. They've chosen Toy Story 3, which gets featured at the bottom of the trending topics list and also gets them the top tweet on the results page.

BIMA me up Scotty!!!

Well butter my spuds and mash my beans, but the Jollywise crew have bagged not 1 but 2 nominations for the BIMA awards.

We've been nominated in both the Display advertising, and entertainment sector categories. For a company that's only been trading since 2006 this is big news for us, and we're over the flipping moon to be shortlisted with the great and the good.

If you want to see what all the fuss is about, here's the 2 bits of work...

Display Advertising - Client: Walt Disney. G-force UK Media Creative

Entertainment Sector - Client: Universal Pictures/Spotify - The competition that rocked

Wish us all the best of luck for the awards ceremony on the 19th November

Would you pay for it?

Company bosses disagree about whether people will pay for content online. Disney boss Bob Iger reckons they will, I think they won't. It seems there is an even split across the two camps. Only time will tell to see who's right!

Epix: Hulu for film

As Hulu grows and grows and in the wake of it's deal with Disney, it seems that other film studios are getting in on the act of online films. Paramount, Lionsgate, and MGM studios have got together and developed epix.
Working like an on-demand TV channel, the service is currently in beta, it will only be available to those with the epix TV channel. This means that your cable provider will be a deciding factor in whether you have the channel or not.

Disney and Hulu ready to begin relationship

Not much has actually changed here. But Disney and Hulu are closer to closing the deal now, it just seems to be taking a long time to sort out all the details.

News in the world of video sites

Firstly YouTube are planning some changes. I guess it had to come at some point if they were going to make any money ever. The changes essentially centre around separating premium and user content in the future and changing the navigation to a tab scheme.

Interestingly they will re-design their player to be more like Hulu's. Which leads us to them also touching on the story of where Disney will be doing putting media online. It looks like Hulu is the place. Obviously this only affects the US at the moment, as most Hulu content is not licensed elsewhere.
